The manifest also lists his wife, Constanze, born about 1814, daughter Hanne born about 1853, Johann Rode born about 1855, Anna Rohde born about

1854, Franz ROHDE born about 1859, and August ROHDE born about 1865. Family sources indicate that he was also known as Gustav RODI or RODE. He resided 250 W. 61st Place, Chicago, Illinois. Constancia (Constanze) was born in Oct 1808 in Poland. She died after 1900 in Chicago(probably). August RODE and Constancia (Constanze) had the following children:

John and Anna (Wanszewska) ROHDE
Johann (John) ROHDE was born on June 24, 1853 in Danzig, Germany. He appeared on the census in 1900 in Chicago, on Perry St. He appeared on the census in 1910 in Chicago, Fullerton St. He appeared on the census in 1930 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois (3914 N. Hermitage Ave.). He died on 6 Aug 1934 in Chicago, at 3914 N. Hermitage Ave. after falling down a flight of stairs. He was buried St. Adalbert's in Chicago.
The 1910 census listed his place of origin as Kashoub (Kashub).

The Kashub are a Western Slavic tribe distinctive from both Poles and Germans.They lived in the northwestern part of the earlier province of West Prussia and in northeastern Pomerania. During the 19th century, the Kashub homeland,was occupied by the Prussians and the people forbidden to speak Polish in schools, offices or churches. It was mandatory for the Kashubians to be taught German in West Prussia starting about 1871. Roughly one-third of the population eventually emigrated. St. Josaphat Parish, located on Southport, near Belden, in Chicago, (the neighborhood that John and Anna Rohde lived in between 1900 and 1910), was founded in 1883 to serve the growing Kashub population in the area. By 1889 the parish numbered 800 families.

He was married to Anna WASERSKI on 9 Oct 1882 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. Anna WASERSKI was born in Jan 1862 in Danzig, Germany. She immigrated in about 1880. She died before 1920. Some documents list her name as WASERSKI, others WANSZEWSKA.

ii. Theodore "Ted" ROHDE was born in Jan 1887 in Chicago. He died in 1953 in Chicago. He was married to Mame. He was married to Agnes LORD (?) before 1930.

iii. Joseph F ROHDE was born on October 24, 1889 in Chicago. He died on January 3, 1954 in Chicago.

iv. Anna ROHDE was born in November 1891 in Chicago. She died in 1966 in Chicago. She was married to John MARKOWSWKI (or MARX) on October 29, 1913 in Chicago at St. Josephat Catholic Church. John MARKOWSWKI was born about 1885 in Kiel, Germany. He was naturalized in 1911. He died on 11 Aug 1947 in Chicago.

v. Edward "Gustav" ROHDE was born in Oct 1894 in Chicago. He died before 1910 in Chicago.

vi. Leo ROHDE was born on June 28, 1897 in Chicago. He died on November 1, 1976 in Chicago.

He was married to Margaret FICHT, daughter of John FICHT, about 1921. Margaret FICHT was born July 13, 1900. She died on 22 Aug 1966. She was also known as Aunt Theresa, or Grace. She was buried in Chicago, at St. Adalbert's.

vii. Martha ROHDE was born on 5 Sep 1899 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois (95 High St.). She resided 4568 N. Mobile Avenue, Chicago, between 1928 and 1974. She died on September 12, 1974 in Chicago and was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois. She was married to John Ferdinand ALBERTS, son of Ferdinand ALBERTZKI and Rose NASTALI, on September 6, 1922 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Chicago. John Ferdinand ALBERTZKI was born November 17, 1899 in Chicago and died on July 2, 1963 in Chicago.

viii. Michael "Micky" ROHDE was born August 9, 1902 in Chicago. He died in Aug 1984 in Chicago. He was married to Bernice FICHT, daughter of John and Antoinette FICHT about 1940. Bernice FICHT was born about Feb 1918 in Illinois.
