Rose NASTALI
(5 Dec 1870 - 27 May 1944)
Ferdinand and Rose (Nastali) ALBERTZKI
Rose NASTALI was born on 5 Dec 1870 in Germany to Albert NASTALI and Juliana (or Frances?) LIBKOWSKI. She came to the U.S. in approximately 1888. Family sources say that she came on Jan. 7, 1890, however there are no ship manifests to substantiate this information. The 1900 census indicates she came in 1886. Again no ship manifests have been found that support that year. There was a Rosalie Nastalie that arrived May 22, 1888 in Baltimore. The ship, the steamship AMERICA, was built in Greenock, Scotland and was launched in November 1862. It was built with accomodation for 765, including crew. On the run from Bremen to Baltimore that Rosalie Nastalie was on, the Ship's Manifest listed 1160 passengers! She was listed as a servant, age 18, traveling with Franz Nastali, merchant, age 24. It is not clear what their relationship was. It might be noted that her future husband, Ferdinand Albertzki, arrived in this same port three weeks earlier, on May 1. Perhaps Baltimore was where they met?
She was married to Ferdinand ALBERTZKI (son of Carl ALBERTZKI and Maria SCHOSKI) on November 26, 1890 in Chicago, Illinois at St. Augustine Catholic Church. They resided at 5039 Center Avenue, Chicago, in 1896, and 5015 Loomis St., Chicago in 1904. They bought a house at 4853 School Street, Chicago, on Sept. 23, 1915, which she lived in until her death in 1944. Ferdinand died February 3, 1917. She died on May 27, 1944 in Chicago, and was buried in Evergreen Park, at St. Mary's Cemetery. Note: I have very little additional information on the NASTALI families of Chicago. It is likely, I suppose, that most, if not all Nastali families in Chicago are inter-related. Following this are several Nastali obituaries with Chicago connections, not currently connected with the Rose Nastali described above.
