Jane's daughter, Agnes WHITE remembered hearing other stories of the early years in their small home in Deer Creek, "When the kids [Agnes and Janie] were young, there was a cradle suspended from the ceiling that Jake was able to reach with his foot, and rock the baby." Jake died on September 29, 1950 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. When he died, the house was sold to Claude and Agnes WHITE for her mom, Janie, who had taken care of Jake and Marion in their old age,

Dear Family,
This is a record of our origins, as thoroughly as my 97 year old mind can recall. My grandfather, John Johnstone was of Scotch descent. My grandmother was Scotch and English, Agnes Cameron. They were married about 1839 or 40. Five children were born to them - John, my father, Maryann, Willard, Robert and Agnes. They lived in Larbert, Scotland where the family was born and later moved to Glasgow where my grandfather had an interest in a steam packing plant. When my father was 21 in 1880, he came to Alberta, Canada where he was employed as clerk and bookkeeper in a clothing store for a short time before moving to the U.S. Mother's family was of Scotch descent. Her father James Binnie and Jane Smith were married and lived in Falkirk, Scotland. They had 5 children- James, Thomas, Christopher, Jane, and Marion, my mother. Grandfather Binnie passed away in 1880. Grandmother and daughter Marion came to Canada where Uncle Tom lived. My father and mother were married in Canada near . . . They moved to Deer Creek, Minnesota. My Aunt Jane lived in Wadena, about 9 miles from Deer Creek. Father worked in a general store as clerk and bookkeeper. He built a small 3 room house where my sister Jane and I was born and lived most of our lives. When I was 21, I married Robert R. Seger from Frazee, Minnesota. We lived in Campbell, Minnesota for three months then moved to Kensill, North Dakota. There were 4 daughters born from this marriage, Marion Phyllis 1906, December 14 ; Agnes Louise 1908, November 11 ; Florence Bernadette, 1914, October 10, deceased November 1925 ; Ruth Lillian, 1917, May 19 . We lived in and out of Spokane from 1910 to 1923, moved to Burnt Valley for 4 years, then to Portland, Oregon, then back to Spokane. Dad worked in the shipyards in Seattle during the war. He passed away in 1945. Then I moved back to Spokane and married Oscar Dahlgren in 1955. Oacar passed away February 14, 1975. Since then I spend time with Ruth in Oregon and Marion in Chewelah . . .
